If you are having trouble selecting a colour scheme for a room, try starting with a fabric with colours and/or a pattern you really like and are going to use in the
room (that way some of the work has already been done). Then from that point you can pick your main colour, accent colours and/or additional accessories and
patterns.

Happy New Year! Try to start the New Year off with a different type of resolution or change in your life. Make a good effort at decluttering and downsizing the
number of “things” you have in your house. By decluttering and only keeping the things in your home you love and use on a regular basis, increases the air and
positive energy flow in your home and you will feel a lot better. However you decide to perform the decluttering, realize that it usually cannot be done in a
weekend, so take your time and give yourself a reasonable timeline.
If it is too overwhelming of a task for you, consider hiring a Professional Organizer to help you out. A fresh set of eyes or a different perspective always helps!

When decorating a space in your home, trust your instincts and pay attention to your gut! If you walk
into a space or room and you do not get a good feeling from it, chances are that something or things need
to be changed. Chances are that either something(s) need to be removed, updated, or the furniture needs
a new arrangement. Sometimes the change can be a small rearrangement or an entirely new scheme in the
room.
Especially, during the busy holiday season, there is nothing better than having a warm and cozy feeling
indoors, while the air can get quite cold outside!
If, after several attempts at changing things around, you are still not satisfied with the feeling in
a space, strongly consider hiring an interior decorator or someone who specializes in redesign. Sometimes
a fresh set of eyes is all it takes!

With all of the paint colours to choose from now, it is no wonder that people can get a bit frustrated
with the process and take short cuts. Sometimes the short cuts can end up with people not being all that
happy with the final choice. When picking paint colour (or hue) for a space, it takes some time as you
need to see the colour at different times of the day (the natural light coming in the space from windows
affects it). If it is a small space you are painting, then usually you can pick your final colour from
paint chips. However, if it is a large space, then I recommend you buy a sample size of the paint first
of the colours you really like and paint a large area on the walls to see how it colours change at
different times of the day.
Whenever you pick a dark colour of paint for a space, always consider picking (at least) one shade
lighter. Reason: once it is on more than one wall, it may look even darker than what you wanted
originally. You also want to try to avoid hearing yourself say - "This is too dark"! If you are ever
not sure about a colour for a room, always consider asking a colour consultant. They are here to help you!

Have you ever wondered how different functioning areas in your home or workplace became out of control
or why you are forgetting to do things that are routine? Do you think it is because you are anywhere from
being slightly to very disorganized? Are you a person who thinks that your “system” works even though tasks
do not get accomplished or done the way they should? My suggestion is to take a step back and be honest
with yourself (pretend someone is asking you “So how's that working for you?”). Are you ready for a change
in the way things are done or do you think that it could be done better? Well, a Professional Organizer is
the right person to consult to tackle a system that has become out of control or you want a change in the
way things are done. Professional Organizers specialize in the organizing of things as well as systems to
ensure tasks are done efficiently and effectively.
After all, the holiday season is coming upon us in a couple of months. What better time than now to
start to get organized for a season full of different tasks, systems, and activities with many people
(including family and friends)!
September 2011
Well autumn is almost here – it gets dark outside earlier and the nights are getting cooler. There are
several things to get yourself ready for this time of year and now is the time to start. Whether it is
reorganizing your time (for example, getting up earlier to start the day) or starting to bring out the
autumn clothes and putting away some of the summer ones, do not forget about the accessories in your house.
This is the time to start bringing out the warm blankets, and baskets with the gourds, twigs and fall
foliage.
Do not forget about the front of your house as well. There are so many beautiful flowers and autumn
coloured accessories (for example, wreaths, brooms and wooden figurines) at your local crafts stores.
Or you can visit your local fall fair and pick up some handmade crafts from local artisans! If you
need some help sorting through all the options or are wondering what would work with your colour
schemes in and outside your house, give your interior decorator a call!
